The Grandmothers' Story
When a Facebook Group turned into a movement...
Our Story & Mission
The Global Grandmothers’ Council Network was founded in 2019 by Suzanne Lewis and Sharon Riegie Maynard as a Facebook community calling together Grandmothers. Suzanne’s lifelong devotion to cross-cultural Indigenous Wisdom, the Sacred Feminine, and Planetary Peacekeeping responded to the CALL to SHOW UP. Simultaneously, Brooke Medicine Eagle, an Earthkeeper, advocated that the time was now for the GRANDMOTHERS to gather GLOBALLY to lead the way through these challenging times. Sharon's teachings from The Ancient Ones restored our Star family's history, and brought her to the same awareness that the Women, including Grandmothers, were key to safeguarding life.
GGCN is deeply committed to the care of Gaia, Mother Earth, and to embracing healing and transformation for all the generations, past, present, and future. We hold life in all forms sacred, our ancestor's wisdom as treasure, and are building bridges to embrace the multiplicity of ways we may enrich our families and communities. We hold this a sacred trust.
We are a global community of grandmothers and women, fostering unity to share knowledge and experience that transforms legacies of separation into pathways of connection.
GGCN has found its home with Peace Production, with Mayana Kingery acting as Administrative Consultant, where it has been granted 501c3 nonprofit status in the US under the Peace Production umbrella.
Our Audience: While GGCN is a Grandmothers' Council Network, all of humanity needs to hear their wisdom now. These are the most vulnerable members of society who have been silenced far too long. Having a place where they can offer Wisdom, Guidance, Creations, Goods, and Services is vital. We are here to preserve Wisdom for future generations and offer means and methods for Grandmothers to receive the support they so richly deserve.
